Cultural Capital Statement
At Etwall Primary School, we provide many opportunities for children to develop their cultural capital in computing, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Our computing curriculum and extracurricular activities foster creativity, problem-solving and digital literacy, preparing children for the future while embedding important values of responsible and ethical technology use.
We place a strong emphasis on online safety, ensuring that children develop the awareness and skills needed to navigate the digital world securely and responsibly. Through dedicated online safety lessons and participation in national events such as Safer Internet Day, pupils learn about issues such as cyberbullying, misinformation and protecting personal information. By equipping children with this knowledge, we help them to make informed choices and use technology in a safe, respectful and positive way.
Beyond the classroom, our extracurricular opportunities enhance cultural capital further. Our Code Club enables pupils to explore programming and computational thinking in a fun and supportive environment. The Stop Motion Animation After School Club encourages creativity by allowing children to bring their own stories to life using digital tools. These experiences provide valuable insights into the wider digital and creative industries.
Through our diverse range of computing opportunities, we empower children to become confident, innovative and responsible digital citizens, ready to embrace the technological world around them.
