PSHE and RSE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education is a school subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. These skills and attributes help pupils to stay healthy, safe and prepare them for life and work in modern Britain. When taught well, PSHE education helps pupils to achieve their academic potential, and leave school equipped with skills they will need throughout later life.

Key Documents
Through the provision of opportunities, children will develop their cultural capital through a wide range of experiences.

Some of these experiences are:

  • We follow the 'SMILERS' way to well-being (Stay connected, Move, Interest, Look, Eating well, Rest, Support)
  • Regularly inviting visitors to enrich our PSHE lessons i.e. pharmacist, police officer, vet, pilot, paramedic (and many, many more!)
  • Responding to the needs of our pupils- (inviting a male drama and dance teacher to combat gender stereotypes)
  • Using diverse books that represent our society.
  • Residential trips for year 3/4 & year 5/6
  • Celebrating acts of kindness
  • Forest school
  • Outdoor nurture sessions with Frazer
  • Travel smart week
  • Anti-bullying week
  • Anti-stigma week
  • Regular charity fundraising events
  • A wide range of after school clubs, including; cooking club, lego club, fantasy football club, coding club, library club, gardening club and many more!
  • School committees for all ages; School Council, Eco-council, Literacy committee, Anti-stigma ambassadors.
Most of our PSHE work is focussed around discussions and experiences. We collate any written work in our class PSHE book. We can then look back and celebrate all of our lovely learning. Our class books are made to share, so please do come and ask to view them :)
